Brockton Avenue Elementary School is a Title 1 school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.The school was constructed in the early 1900's.and is located in West Los Angeles in close proximity to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The Brockton Avenue School community currently serves 222 TK - 5th grade students in 9 general education classrooms and 4 special education classrooms.
Our diverse population is about 67% Hispanic, 18% White, 6% Asian, 1% Filipino, 5% Black, 3% other ethnicities. Of this population 41% are English Language Learners, and 2% are identified as gifted and talented.
The instructional program is structured to meet the needs of our diverse populations.
We have a Resource Specialist on-site daily, a School Nurse once a week, School Psychologist twice a week, a Speech Therapist daily, a PSA Counselor once a week, an APE and an OT three times a week.
Our teachers have on-going collaborative instructional planning to support the implementation of the Benchmark Literacy Program, My MATH program, FOSS Science, and the Scott Foresman Social Studies program.
At least once a week students visit the Computer Lab to use a typing program, to do research, and to learn code.
