Brockton Avenue Elementary School is located in a beautiful area in West Los Angeles. We are a community school and we encourage parent and community involvement. We work closely with all stakeholders in looking at how we could better prepare all of our students to be ready for college and career. I've been the proud Principal of Brockton for a year now and I can honestly say that I am blessed to be working with such fine students, families, and staff. We are in close proximity to UCLA which allows us to be a UCLA Tie-Ins School. Partnering with UCLA, our teachers and students benefit from the support and services from UCLA students and staff all throughout the year.
At Brockton we emphasize the 3 Be's: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Safety is top priority at Brockton and we remind students how they can be safe (physically and emotionally) at all times in different circumstances. We continue to reiterate the need to be respectful...to adults and to fellow classmates. We teach our students to show respect towards others' differences. I love how there is cultural diversity amongst our students and staff here at Brockton. There is so much to learn from each other. Responsibility is necessary in becoming good citizens and it begins in elementary school. Our students will be responsible for their own learning in academics and in character development.
This year I would like to set my goal around "Learning and Growing" as educators and as students. As a staff we are focusing on CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) Math and Technology (Coding). With the mindset of getting our students "College and Career Ready," we will provide our students with the tools and resources they need to be successful.
I am excited and look forward to the 2017-18 school year!
