Back-to-School Picnic

Please join us for a Back-to-School Picnic at Stoner Park to get reacquainted with your fellow parents, students, and Brockton Staff. Meet us at the picnic tables between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. PTA will provide some snacks and dessert. We hope to see you there!

Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year!

On behalf of Brockton staff members, welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We are looking forward to another exciting year of teaching and learning.

The first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. School hours will be from 8:15 a.m.-1:38 p.m. Class assignments will be posted as you enter the school grounds. With the exception of our PAL class, students will meet their teachers in the Auditorium. On Tuesday, August 15th, we will begin with a Tuesday Morning Assembly. Parents are welcome to join us.

Immediately following the Assembly, we will have our TK/Kinder Orientation for our English Learners. Come and hear about the programs we offer and meet our new Coordinator, Ms. Bullard.

Wednesday, August 16, 2017 will be a Minimum Day with dismissal at 1:00 p.m. Please plan to pick-up your child accordingly. Starting Thursday, August 17th, dismissal will be at regular time at 2:38 p.m.

All families will be required to fill out a new lunch application for the new school year. Your child can use his/her current lunch code until September 15th. Lunch applications will be sent out the first week of school. If you have any questions regarding the applications, please stop by and speak to our Cafeteria Manager,

Registration for UCLA's Summer 2017 Bilingual Language Institute is happening...

Priority registration is now for all families who have children that attend one of UCLA's eight TIE-INS schools (Brockton is one!). Families who do not attend a TIE-INS school will have their registrations canceled and will need to wait until Friday, May 12th to register.

This summer, UCLA will be offering a combined Chinese and Spanish language institute.

July 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th
8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day

1st grade to 12th grade
(offering beginner and mixed experience levels for each grade and immersion classes)

If you are enrolling more than one child for the institute, please make sure to select the appropriate number of children per grade level on the first page. Please make sure you select the appropriate grade level for your child(ren).

If the grade level you are looking to enroll in is closed, please sign up for the appropriate grade level wait list. If you are on the wait list, classes maybe added and we will inform you as soon as possible. We are trying to keep class sizes between 15-20 students per teacher). Depending on enrollment, we may combine classes (e.g. combined grades 1 and 2, etc).

Brockton's Walk-a-Thon!

Our annual Walk-a-Thon will be on Friday, May 12th. This is a great day of fun and exercise while raising funds to help the school. Donation forms and money should be returned by this date. Be sure your child comes to school in comfortable walking shoes!

Expanded Transitional Kindergarten (ETK) is beginning at Brockton!

ETK is a new early childhood program for children who turn 5 between Dec. 3, 2017-June 30, 2018.

• Priority for children who turn 5 between Dec. 3rd and March 31st
• Program begins on August 15, 2017
• Children will learn language, literacy, and math skills to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond

Our Safety Valet Program is from 7:45-8:15 a.m. in front of the school on Armacost Avenue. Please be sure to follow the rules for the drop-off lane. For those who are crossing, be sure to use the crosswalk at all times. We want to teach our students safety.
